Ambassador of Thailand, ambassadors of ASEAN countries and partners and observers join the opening ceremony of the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly this morning at the International Convention Center in Hanoi.
H.E. Madam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam and President of the 41st AIPA General Assembly, outlined the agenda and expectations in political, economic, and social issues, including inclusion of roles of women and youths.
Party General-Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong pointed to profound changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and great powers competition, among other key issues, and called for ASEAN’s central and driving role and abilities to meet the demands and expectations of her peoples, among others.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc remarked on the critical role of AIPA and parliamentary diplomacy for inclusive and cohesive ASEAN. He also underscored blue prints of political, economic, and social development, reflection on the people’s will on ASEAN community beyond 2025, ASEAN as rules based community, as well as valuable voices of parliamentarians on caring and sharing community, among other issues.
